Andrea Aversa was born in Milan in 1979. He graduated in Economics before obtaining a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design in New York.
His practice seeks to create the conditions in which objects, images and materials produce and reveal unexpected relations across time, place and cultural contexts.
His work spans sculpture, installation, moving images, archival research and lecture-performance. Recent projects and collaborations include a video commission for the Louvre Museum, Museo del Novecento in Milan, Espace Labo in Geneva and the Rencontres d’Arles OFF programme. Previous collaborations include Glenn Ligon, Mike Bouchet and the Association Pierre Guyotat. His work has been presented in Paris, Milan, Rome, Geneva and New York.
His publications include Andromaque POP, Presses Universitaires de Rennes, 2021, and Un Été Italien, Data Sharing Archives, Milan, 2017.
He lives and works in Paris.
